NexTalk VM Packages
Introduced in 1999, our NexTalk VM Software was the answer to the need for faster modems and mobile computing. By developing a "Soft TTY" method (software driven versus hardware driven TTY), NXi was able to use lower-cost yet higher-speed modems, manufactured by other modem companies, with our software. With NexTalk VM, NXi was also able to provide a more modern 32 bit software interface. Our software and voice modem bundles support PCI, serial external, and USB external modem formats. The USB modem is good for laptop computer users because it does not need an external power supply (power is supplied through the USB port).
Early/Discontinued Products: NexCom 300vi Modem
Our own TTY compatible 19200 bps modem with personal communications software (NexTalk for Windows, 16 bit). Released in 1994, this product was the most popular TTY modem on the market and offered the most reliable computer-based TTY to date. With the change in computer motherboards to PCI format only, we had to discontinue this modem.
While we still support the NexCom modem for those users who still have ISA capabilities, we no longer sell the modem or provide warranty replacements for it.
Our replacement consumer/single-workstation product is our NexTalk VM software.
