NXi Communications, Inc. was established in 1990 as an engineering consulting company by three engineers, one of whom is deaf. Since 1992, when NXi received a grant from the National Institutes on Deafness and other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) to develop and improve TTY technology, NXi has been involved solely in the development and production of advanced technology products for text communications. NXi introduced the world's first high speed TTY compatible modem in 1994 and is continuing to break new ground in telecommunications technology for the deaf.
 NXi's NexCom 300TM modem with NexTalkTM software has been the most popular TTY modem on the market. Our innovative TTY emulation method and NexTalk-VMTM software continues our consumer product line, and our network-based NTS software is the only TTY software of its kind on the market today. NXi's products are available through more than 40 resellers in the U.S. and Canada, covering 20 states within the U.S. and 3 provinces in Canada. Our products are also available from dealers in Australia as well. NXi's modems and software are in use by federal, state, and local governments, private businesses, and deaf individuals across the U.S., Canada and Australia.
